A technically compliant design still needs to work on site.
Our Stage 4 designs are developed with buildability, access, coordination, installation, sequencing and future maintenance in mind.
We work closely with contractors and the wider project team throughout the technical design process, responding to developing architectural and structural information and resolving interfaces between disciplines as the design progresses.
The result is clear, coordinated engineering information that gives project teams greater confidence before installation begins.

We understand the demands placed on M&E contractors when taking responsibility for detailed design.
Sustain can act as an extension to your project team, providing the technical engineering resource required to develop tender or consultant information into a detailed Stage 4 design package.
We can review the information available at appointment, identify outstanding design requirements and develop an agreed scope of technical deliverables appropriate to the project.
Our responsive and collaborative approach provides contractors with direct access to experienced engineers throughout the design process, helping maintain momentum as the project progresses towards construction.
Taking over
an existing design.
Not every project starts with Sustain at RIBA Stage 2 or Stage 3.
Where we are appointed to develop an existing design, we undertake an initial review of the available information to understand the established design intent, identify outstanding technical requirements and highlight areas requiring further development or clarification.
This provides a clear starting point for Stage 4 and helps establish the design responsibilities, assumptions and information required from the wider project team before detailed design progresses.

Throughout Stage 4, we continue to consider system efficiency, plant performance, controls, energy consumption and operational requirements when developing the final technical solution.
